Agencies may request Interim FTEs and/or Time Limited and Temporary Grant positions during the fiscal year.
Interim FTE adjustments allow agencies flexibility to adjust FTEs during the fiscal year. The adjustments are temporary and are in effect until the end of the fiscal year. Agencies requesting an interim adjustment to their FTEs must submit Form BD211 with any supporting documentation. The Executive Budget Office may approve adjustments to Other and Federal funded positions. Adjustments to state funded positions will be forwarded to the State Fiscal Accountability Authority for approval.
These position categories were created to give state agencies the flexibility to hire employees to fill time-specific positions funded by Federal grants, interagency contracts, public charity grants, private foundation grants and research grants. These classifications allow agencies to offer fringe benefits to employees for the duration of the grant/contract without obligating the state agency or institution to retain the employee past the grant/contract period.
Time-Limited Positions are generally funded by a contract between the agency and another entity (internal or external to the agency). Temporary Grant Positions are generally funded by a grant between the agency and another entity.
